Through the Gender Studies minor, you will acquire a range of marketable skills including writing, critical thinking, public speaking, media literacy, time and project management, conflict resolution, and diversity training. The interdisciplinary, intersectional, and global perspectives on the lives, history, and achievements of women and those who identify as LGBTQIA, and on men and masculinity, that you develop in this minor can give you a competitive edge on the job market and enhance virtually any career path you choose. You will learn how to analyze and think critically about gender constructions across different historical periods, cultures, and global practices. The Gender Studies minor requires students to take courses across three or more subject areas, offering you the opportunity to explore gender through a variety of fields and ensuring you acquire breadth as well as depth of content and skills.
The minor offers the possibility to be completed entirely through General Education coursework, as well as including major courses in some of the university’s most popular programs, including business, criminal justice, psychology, and fashion design, offering maximum flexibility and customization. You will find that your Gender Studies coursework supports and enhances your development of Lindenwood’s graduate attributes: both personally fulfilling, and preparing you for every future.
